“Casa da Cultura” of Comporta
The renovation of the former cinema of the village of Comporta and the adjacent rice barn gave birth in 2016 to Casa da Cultura (House of Culture).
This cultural establishment, in the heart of the village, aims to promote Portuguese culture and craftsmanship. Temporary exhibitions of artists are organized in the gallery section of the building, and the grand hall houses a dozen stores.
The interior of the lobby is inspired by the famous pier of Carrasqueira. A wooden walkway connects small shops presenting the creations of local brands and artisans: hand-woven caftans, home accessories, leather shoes or bags. The Casa da Cultura is generally open in summer (June to September), and some bank holiday weekends.
